SIXTH GRADE BAZAAR AND BAKE SALE

Friday, Dec. 13

Students will have the opportunity to buy reasonably priced, handmade gifts to give to family and friends at Christmas! They can also buy a treat at the bake sale. A price list will come home today. The sixth graders are hard at work right now to make the bazaar a special event! If you need a gift in a pinch, don't call the Grinch. Come to the Sixth Grade Bazaar!

Do you like great music, cookies and feeling good?

TONIGHT - Wednesday, 12/11/19 6PM join us in the church for a beautiful music and message event. For the first time, our parish will be combining contemporary and traditional choirs for an outstanding Advent Event!

The music will be phenomenal! The Message Inspiring!  If the “Holiday Spirit” often escapes you, year after year, it might be because you are searching in the wrong place. 

Waiting Here for You…. Advent Music with a Message, will help you prepare for the season and leave you feeling lighter and with a happy heart.

This family friendly event begins at 6pm in the church.  The program is under an hour and followed by treats in Denning Hall.

PANTHER PERKS DAY

Due to the timing of Christmas break, we are having two TURN IN TUESDAYS in January to earn an out of uniform day for your kids!  Orders turned in on Tuesday, Jan. 7 OR Tuesday Jan. 14 will earn an out of uniform day on Thursday, Jan. 16.

STEM CLUB

Stem Club registration is open for grades 3-5.  Please register by emailing Heather Harvey at heather.harvey@st-paul.pvt.k12.ia.us to register your child (name and grade) for the January 7 meeting.  There is no cost to this club.  I will walk them out the courtyard door near the elevator.  If you are not here at 3:45 they will be walked over to aftercare.  You must sign your child up each time because space is limited.

  1. PAUL'S 2020 SPELLING BEE!!
    The Spelling Bee is next month!  On Friday, January 24th, students in grades 3-8 can participate in the spelling bee...but first they need to sign up at a spelling bee practice!

 

Students need to come to at least one practice in order to sign up for the spelling bee to learn the protocol and rules of the bee.  The middle school homeroom teachers will be hosting a practice during an English class for sign-ups and learning the rules of the spelling bee.  Grades 3-5 practice dates will be on Wednesday, January 8th and Wednesday, January 15th during their recess times.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THE SPELLING BEE

If any parents would like to volunteer to help out with the spelling bee and be a judge, which entails writing the word the student spells, or checking the word off a list, etc. please send an email to Miss Frideres at abby.frideres@st-paul.pvt.k12.ia.us to volunteer!  We need two volunteers to judge alongside Miss Frideres and the pronouncer of the spelling words, Mr. Gannaway.

ASSUMPTION HIGH SCHOOL WINTER INFORMATION KNIGHT SESSION

All families interested in learning about everything AHS has to offer are encouraged to attend the

Information Knight Session on Wednesday, December 11th from 5:30-6:30 PM in the AHS Carroll Lab.

 

This is an informative session for parents to learn about academic offerings and financial aid options.  Assumption High School offers a challenging curriculum designed to give students a solid foundation in preparation for life beyond high school.  Please join us to learn more.

 

Any K-8 student in attendance will be partnered with a group of AHS Student Ambassadors for a tour of the school.  Please park in the main student entrance.  There will be AHS Student Ambassadors showing families to the Carroll Lab.  Contact Kris Kellenberger, AHS Director of Admissions at 326-5313 ext. 230 or kris.kellenberger@assumptionhigh.org with questions.

St. Ambrose University is holding their annual softball camp January 11 & 12, 2020 for ages 7-13 and ages 14-17 (as of 1/11/20).  There will be two sessions for each age group.  Please see the attached flier for more information.  Contact Head Coach Ron Ferrill at ferrillronaldw@sau.edu with any questions.

Our Panther Perk Holiday Elves are offering you the opportunity to purchase Panther Perks/scrip as a

Christmas gift for the St Paul the Apostle Faculty and Staff. Your family can choose the desired amount for

each individual staff member. All forms and payments must be turned in by Friday, Dec 13th. Our elves will

present the Holiday Panther Perks certificates with the total amount received and a list of the gifting families

to each staff member on Monday Dec 16th (No individual amounts will be mentioned). Your chosen staff

member will have the luxury of shopping at over 700 retailers thanks to your generosity!  Forms are coming home today and are attached to this email.

ELF: THE MUSICAL, JR.

Come get Sparkle Jolly Twinkle Jingly with your family and friends! The Assumption Knight Players proudly present Elf: the Musical, Jr. on Friday, December 13 at 6:30 PM and Saturday, December 14 at 2 PM at Assumption High School’s Sunderbruch Auditorium. All tickets are $5.00 and children 5 years old and under are free! A Children’s Theater Workshop is also being offered on December 14 from 10 AM-2PM for students in 1st-6th grade. CAFÉ ON VINE 

We will also be collecting warm items for adults: socks, gloves, hats, long johns, blankets, sweat shirts, boots...These items will also be given to the homeless during the meal we serve on Christmas Eve.  It's a good time to clean out that coat closet.
