This is my second year at St. Paul's and I am excited about all of the new things we'll do in art this year! I teach using Disciplined Based Art Education- which means I explore art production, art history, art criticism and aesthetics in my curriculum. Students will learn about artists and art styles, historical movements in art, skill development in drawing, painting, sculpting, and creative and critical thinking skills. We talk about our personal interests in art so that students may learn how to communicative in fun ways.
Some of Miss Coyle's interests are: art making, reading (especially reading about art), exercising, travel, and, of course, teaching art!
B.A. with an Art Education endorsement at Western Illinois University.
Come join us for some summer fun at art camp! We will be exploring ocean themed art using a variety of media such as painting, drawing, collage, and paper mache!
Private Drawing Lessons After School!
Private Drawing Lessons with Mrs. Johnston!
(formerly Miss Coyle)
Starting September 8th Mrs. Johnston will have private drawing lessons in her room every Tuesday from 3:20-3:55.
We will explore learning how to draw various styles of art from drawing realistic people and animals, to drawing cartoons, to anime, and beyond!
Mrs. Johnston will provide a snack, just be sure to bring their water bottle if they have one!
Students from 1st grade on up may join, and they can come every Tuesday, or just once- they are always welcome to join!
Pick up will be where After Care picks up.
$4 per student per day
There are going to be so many exciting things happening in the art room this year! I have tons of projects planned, some new, some the same as last year. This year we'll be doing something a little different from this past year. Students will not be bringing home any art. Instead, they will keep it at school all year, and in April/May (the dates haven't been decided yet!) there will be an art show! So don't be alarmed if you don't see any art projects from Mrs. Johnston's class coming home, they're going to choose their favorites at the end for the show!
Looking forward to all the awesome art we're going to make this year!
Patiotic hats from the final day of art camp. We had a blast, and hope to see you all again next summer!
