The Weekly Panther

PRINCIPAL’S PONDERINGS
As we head into the holiday season, we’ve noticed an increase in student absences this past couple of weeks due to illness (including myself!). This time of year brings joy and celebration, but also more germs making their way around.
To help keep our students healthy and learning, here are a few simple reminders:
Stay home when sick. If your child isn’t feeling well, fever, vomiting, or other symptoms, please keep them home until they are symptom free for at least 24 hours. If you take your child to the doctor, please provide the school with a note.
Hydrate and fuel up. Plenty of water, balanced meals, and good sleep go a long way in boosting the immune system, especially with busy schedules and colder weather.
Handwashing matters. Encourage regular handwashing before eating and after coughing or sneezing. It’s still one of the most effective ways to stop the spread.
Teach healthy habits. Covering coughs, using tissues, and avoiding sharing drinks or snacks helps protect everyone.
Prioritize rest. Late nights and holiday excitement can add up, children (and adults!) need consistent sleep to stay well.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our community healthy during this special season. We want all our students to enjoy these weeks of learning, celebrations, and preparation for Christmas.
Wishing everyone wellness, peace, and plenty of hand sanitizer!
Mr. Connors

STILL CURRENT
School wide service opportunities
- Family Laundry Basket project- Our Fillmore angel tree has changed this year since my contact is shared between 2 buildings. This year she was hoping to have us help with a Family focused basket for families in need to include hygiene/family items/food items for Christmas. There is a sign up genius of items to help fill the 15 baskets. Items can be brought to the main office or Mrs. Harvey's room.
- Cafe on Vine- We are collecting warm items for Cafe on Vine for Christmas Eve. We are looking for warm hats, gloves, socks, scarfs, coats, boots and thermal under clothes. Items can be dropped off in the 8th grade hallway. The student council will be hosting a Christmas Eve lunch at Cafe on Vine and provide desserts and snack bags.

Panther Perks for the Holidays
The season of gift giving is here. Next Tuesday, we will be sending home a “Panther Perks for the Holidays” flyer so you can donate to a Christmas gift certificate for your children’s teachers and staff. This is a simple, meaningful way to show your appreciation for the Faculty and staff who work with your children every day. Participation is optional, and all contributions will be combined into a gift certificate for each Faculty/staff member to purchase Panther Perk gift cards of their choice. Thank you for helping us spread some holiday cheer!

2nd Semester Lunch Sign Up
2nd Semester Lunch will start on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. All 2nd semester orders must be submitted by Friday, DECEMBER 12, 2025.
*Please complete a separate form for each child who plans to take any a la carte lunch options.
* Please note that signing up indicates that your child plans to take each item for the entire 2nd semester.
*If you wish to add something after you have submitted the form (and the deadline has not passed), please create a new form and only include the ADDED choice(s). Do not resubmit already ordered items or the system will think your child wants two of everything. Additions must be made by the deadline of December 12.
*If your child decides they want to cancel something, please email kelly.boche@st-paul.pvt.k12.ia.us by December 12.
*Please note that all pizza will be CHEESE during Lent, regardless of what flavor is ordered. Lent is from Ash Wednesday, Feb. 18 thru Easter, April 5. Pizza flavors will resume on Friday, April 10.
We will also be substituting HyVee Cheese pizza on Ash Wednesday only for those who order Chick-fil-A sandwiches or nuggets. Chick-fil-A salads will still be served on Ash Wednesday since they do not contain meat.
*Payment for lunches will be invoiced by SCCS via Blackbaud in January. PLEASE DO NOT SEND IN ANY MONEY NOW!
Sign up for lunch at this link: https://forms.gle/TrYrNZoaNqD4usdA9
Due to the nature of our lunch program, and our merge with SCCS, we no longer can offer late orders or lunch changes.
